NEW: CONIPUR 2640 – the solvent-free spray coating for sports floors from CONICA
19. October 2021
As an innovative company, we aim to not only further develop our products technically, but also to reduce health risks during processing as much as possible.
With CONIPUR 2640 , we are taking another step in the right direction: The solvent-free spray coating for exterior use is a new addition to the CONICA product portfolio. Compared to the standard spray coating, CONIPUR 217, the amount of hazardous ingredients was almost halved.
Advantages
Compared with the current standard spray coating CONIPUR 217, CONIPUR 2640 also impresses with the following sound arguments:
- Solvent and VOC-free
- No solvent smell during installation
- Higher elongation at break
- Less wear
- Less spray mist
- Better granulate embedding
- Can be diluted with smoothing agent (solvent-free)
- Normally, no EPDM powder needs to be added
- No special storage/transport regulations

Application instructions
Since material settles on the bottom of the drum over time, the coating must first be homogenised. This is done by rolling the drums or using an agitator suitable for this purpose. You can find further information, instructions and recommendations in our product data sheet.
Usage
CONIPUR 2640 is used for the production of textured spray coatings in our CONIPUR SP, ISP and CONIPUR EPDM/SP systems. The wear layer of these sports flooring systems is created together with spray granules of a grain size of 0.5–1.5 mm. The floorings have an excellent price-performance ratio. As the systems are tested and certified according to the needs, they are ideally suited for demanding amateur and school sports.
Alongside the health-related processing aspects, the base layer made of recycled granulates is a strong argument for projects that require a resource-saving approach.
Since the spray coating is not UV-resistant, there may be some minor chalking, and the floor surface may discolour when exposed to sunlight. Only a slight change in gloss level is to be expected for the standard colour shades of oxide red and oxide green.
Subsequent application of CONIPUR 2200 or CONIPUR 2210 (anti-slip) sealer in the same shade protects the textured spray coating against both discolouration and chalking.
We are convinced that with CONIPUR 2640 an innovative spray application product for the sports sector has been brought to the market. If you have any questions or are interested, please do not hesitate to contact your regional sales consultant or our customer service in Schaffhausen.
