Impact of the Corona virus on our supply chain – our precautionary measures
16. Marzo 2020
We know you’re probably getting plenty of emails about COVID-19 right now, so we’re just going to send out a short update about what’s going on here and what we’re doing to, hopefully, help out. First and foremost: we are protecting our team and help to confine the spread of disease by sending employees to work from home wherever possible. This measure is active as of now and until further notice. You can safely rely that all services of provided by CONICA will continue as usual. We’ve upgraded infrastructure and hardware to be prepared for working remotely! As a reliable partner, we would like to inform you about the latest and the expected future effects on the movement of goods, thus gaining best possible conditions and reliability for the supply of our customers.
The good news first:
Our worldwide raw material supply is still running smoothly. We acctualy do not expect any supply shortfall in the near future.
The bad thing:
The current circumstances (strict border controls, availability of drivers and equipment, local rules etc.) may cause numerous delays. We can therefore not guarantee the indicated delivery date.
We have to take into account that shipping capacities as well as tank and box container might run short within the next few weeks. Please take this into consideration when scheduling your orders and transports. We kindly ask you to place orders in good time, to ensure a smooth processing by our customer service.
Some good things, too:
Times are definitely difficult, and it’s probably going to take quite a long time until things will get back to “normal”. However, there are at least a few good things going on in the world right now and, arguably, this whole crisis is having some surprisingly good effects as well:
- The coronavirus lockdowns have improved air pollution in China and made the canals in Venice run clear for once.
- People are finding other ways to connect with each other, whether that’s singing on their balconies in Italy or leading an exercise routine from a rooftop in Spain.
- This is purely anecdotal, but we’ve gotten the impression that working remotely is getting everyone to communicate more and better, to share more about themselves. People are having coffee together over Microsoft Teams, chatting about what they’re having for lunch, sharing pics of their desk setups, etc.
- People who’ve been working remotely all along are finally feeling a lot less lonely as the rest of their companies are engaging more using communication tools.
We are following current development closely and will monitor governmental information on the matter.
Stay safe!
Sincerely
Christian Meyer-Hentschel
