A New Sustainable Sports Court Takes Shape in Prague
14. January 2026
Sportovní hřiště Parmská is the first sports facility in the Czech Republic to feature a CONIPUR EPDM surface made with Nike Grind.

In Prague 15, a new sports facility has been completed that combines community use with a thoughtful approach to sustainability. Sportovní hřiště Parmská marks an important step in the use of recycled materials in sports infrastructure, being the first sports court in the Czech Republic built with a CONIPUR EPDM surface made with Nike Grind.
Project Overview
- Completion: 2025
- Location: Parmská Street, Prague 15, Czech Republic
- Surface Area: 1,100 m²
- System: CONIPUR EPDM made with Nike Grind
- Client: Municipal District Prague 15
- Planner / Contractor: GARTENSTA PLUS s.r.o.

A Local Sports Court with Multiple Uses
Sportovní hřiště Parmská is located in a residential area and was planned as a multifunctional outdoor space. The court supports football, basketball, and other ball sports and is used by local residents, schools, and families throughout the day.
Beyond its sporting function, the court serves as a shared neighborhood space, offering a durable surface designed for frequent use and varying weather conditions.
Using Recycled Materials in Sports Construction
The surface installed at Parmská Street is CONIPUR EPDM made with Nike Grind. The system contains at least 25% recycled rubber sourced from end-of-life sports shoes and production waste.
Nike Grind material is processed and combined with high-quality EPDM granules, resulting in a single-layer, water-permeable sports surface. This approach supports circular economy principles by reusing materials that would otherwise be discarded, while maintaining the functional requirements of a modern sports court.

Surface Properties and Performance
The CONIPUR EPDM system provides:
- A safe and elastic playing surface with effective shock absorption
- Low noise levels, suitable for residential surroundings
- Weather resistance and fast drying after rain
- A 13 mm single-layer construction allowing efficient installation
- Design flexibility through 26 standard colors or custom blends
These characteristics support consistent playing conditions and help reduce maintenance requirements over time.
A Practical Example of Circular Thinking
Sportovní hřiště Parmská shows how recycled materials can be applied in everyday infrastructure projects in a practical and straightforward way. The project does not rely on complex systems or additional layers, but instead uses a surface solution that meets performance, safety, and sustainability requirements.
As cities and communities continue to look for responsible construction approaches, projects like this provide valuable reference points for future developments in sports facility design.
